Waterless Irene

Sunday morning, after partaking in a nice little jam the evening prior, we arrived home to a planned power outage. Much to our surprise we also didn't have any water. I figured this was a common occurrence considering the pump we had just replaced had a tendency to act up when it had been without power for a lengthy period of time.

So after the hubby primed the pump... we were soon to realize that the problem lay somewhere else. So while everyone was bracing down for the hurricane and filling their tubs with water so the can flush their toilets in case of emergency we are trying to troubleshoot our water problem.

Oh, and our microwave decides to quit. No kidding.

So, later on that day, in my sluggish - had too much wine the night before - state... I witnessed the most beautiful thing. As the storm was approaching, the clouds were moving quite rapidly across the sky and the dancing shadows and light passing across the field created this beautiful live action time lapse effect. The wind was blowing from the south and it was a warm invigorating feeling, laced with sheer beauty.

So the next day, after the storm had passed the Hubby's uncle made his way out to the house with a spare pump, and an extra foot valve. The foot valve did the trick. It was nice to know that it wasn't a faulty pump, considering we just replaced it. Yes, the Hubby's uncle is indeed a plumber.

The IT Crowd

Has anyone ever seen this show? It is a British Comedy based around 3 characters who work in the I.T. Department in a major corporation. What a fantastic show, it is well written and the deliveries are superb but the physical acting on the show really gets me as well.... some shows you can listen to while you are preparing meals and you pretty much catch the entire show without needing to be a visual spectator. This show you only catch a small about by listening it is necessary to watch. I have been down in the dumps and put this show on and have so many laugh out loud moments that I managed to snap myself out of a funk. This show is like the Office meets the Mighty Boosh. I can't wait for the fifth season to begin.

The 3 who work in the IT department are on the left and the fellow on the far right would be the owner of the company. His character is quite something.

Light as a feather.... Stiff as a board

It is amazing how fast a persons mental state can change as soon as new information becomes available.
I was playing a show a few weeks ago. It was a last minute show that the whole band was really excited to be a part of it. Out of the blue just as I am ready to get up on stage and start playing, my mother pops out like a creature from no where... and this should have been wonderful. On many levels it was amazing, I was thrilled and ecstatic for her to come to a gig and show her support! For some reason though, it startled me so much that I was unable to relax and it threw me off for my entire performance... not that it was terrible but it definitely wasn't my best.

So, the good news is that every uncomfortable experience contains a wonderful lesson waiting to be learned. So thank you mom, for supporting me and my musical endeavors and for teaching me that in the midst of uncertainty that I just need to let go and shine.

In other words.... I need to be light as a feather... not stiff as a board!
