Wen by Chaz Dean - Review

REVOLUTIONIZE the way you cleanse your hair...

Your browser may not support display of this image."After years of seeing the damage caused by ordinary shampoos on his clients’ hair, celebrity hairstylist, Chaz Dean, created Wen® which takes a different approach to cleaning and conditioning hair. A single-step process, Wen® is a Cleansing Conditioner made with natural ingredients, avoiding sodium laurel sulfate and other damaging detergents usually found in shampoos— so it won’t strip your hair and scalp of their natural oils. The Wen® Cleansing Conditioner does not lather but rather feels like a thick conditioning treatment on the hair. Wen® adds sheen, luster, moisture, manageability and better color retention. "

I was really excited to receive this product. I am really fond of natural and organic products and have been looking for a "wonder product". A product that does everything I want it too and is not full of harmful chemicals. The smell... is amazing. I should mention that my nose is geared for aromatherapy scents... and it is pleased.

For those that are not aware of the benefits received by using Wen by Chaz Dean, I will reveal them to you!

  • Adds moisture, body, and shine.
  • Works great on straight, wavy, curly and ethnic hair.
  • Leaves hair soft, manageable and touchable.
  • Can be used before and after any chemical treatment or when hair has been stressed.
  • Strengthening action that repairs damage, renews elasticity, and reduces chemical stress of dry, extremely damaged hair.
I should mention that I have had plenty of time to prepare my hair for this review. I didn't have to do much either. The Nova Scotia humidity can take all the credit for how greasy and weighed down my hair can appear when I wake after washing it only the evening before.

Now, I'm off to the shower now to give this baby a try!

[20 minutes later]

Okay, honestly at first I was a little skeptical. I have tried many products claiming to be natural or organic and while some have cleaned my hair, others have not. I have found that many of are only formulated for certain hair types... or are not formulated at all. Wen cleaned my hair like no other.

At first because of the lack of detergents in the product it felt as though I was just massaging conditioner into my hair. There was no lather whatsoever, some people may find that alarming the very first time they use it. My scalp tingled nicely from the peppermint and I loved the mental clarity it brought as I let it sit in my hair for the alloted time.

Since my hair is fine, I was able to get away with using a little less than the recommended amount although they do have a cleansing conditioner for fine hair in Cucumber-Aloe.

When it was all said and done, I rinsed out the product and put a small drop in for a leave in conditioner. I wondered if my hair was going to be greasy. Often times leave in conditioner will make my hair greasy.

My hair was NOT greasy. It was very clean and not in a stripped clean kind of way either. It felt nice and lively. As my hair dried it had this healthy bounce to it that I usually only see if I end up going to the salon. I was in awe to find this natural product free volume in my hair... so I went to the garage where hubby has spend the last 2 weeks building a desk (seems like a long time.... I should mention that it is his first desk and he is a very careful planner.) The ultimate test of course is his approval. Not only did he notice but he COMPLIMENTED me. This... This is an achievement!!

The only downfall to the product is the price, at $49.99 US, it is pretty steep for my blood... even the auto-delivery price of $29.99 US is pretty steep, even for a miracle shampoo. However, for those special red carpet moments in your life... it is totally worth it. I would love to see this product line put out something similar but more affordable for us low-budget lookers :)

My hair is so soft!

Know your Zombies

Okay I liked this so much that I had to make it the official Etsy find of the week, mostly because I'm writing a song about Zombie genocide and also mostly because Dawn...

Note: I have 2 close friends named Dawn... this one will be called D2

D2 really likes Zombies.

You can find liszstarin's shop on Etsy

Which Zombie would you be? Maybe you would be a entirely new class of zombie... maybe you would be a cross breed...

Essential Oils for Pregnancy

I stumbled upon a fantastic article while I was surfing some information about essential oils. I won a $50 gift certificate to Well.ca from Mom Central and Majesta and I was planning on using it to expand my essential oil collection. I tend to do additional research about the oil before I make any decisions about which oil I will purchase and while in this process I stumbled across a fantastic article about which oils are considered okay for pregnancy used in the form of prenatal massage and are also safe to use on the newborn. Also it has a list of which oils to steer clear of during pregnancy. I thought some of my expecting mom readers might find this information beneficial to them.

Oils that should be avoided during pregnancy:

  • Angelica (Angelica archangelica)
  • Basil (Ocimum basilicum)
  • Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis)
  • Clove (Syzygium aromaticum)
  • Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum)
  • Coriander (Coriandrum sativum)
  • Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare)
  • Juniper Berry (Juniperus communis)
  • Nutmeg (Myristica fragans)
  • Peppermint (Mentha x piperita)
  • Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)
  • Thyme Red (Thymus vulgaris)
  • Sage (Salvia officinalis)
  • Parsley (Petroselinum crispum)
  • Aniseed (Pimpinella anisum)
  • Penny Royal (Mentha pulegium).

  • It may seem funny that things like clove, nutmeg and cinnamon are on this list, but in actuality nutmeg is very potent and when large amounts are ingested can cause nausea. Oils are very concentrated. In fact, cinnamon oil is so potent that many people opt to use a cinnamon stick instead of the oil.

Oils that are safe for use in pregnancy:

  • Bergamot (Citrus bergamia)
  • Chamomile Roman (Chamaemelum nobile)
  • Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus smithii, Eucalyptus staigeriana)
  • Frankincense (Boswelli carteri)
  • Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens)
  • Ginger (Zingiber officinale)
  • Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi)
  • Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)
  • Lemon (Citrus limon)
  • Mandarin (Citrus reticulata)
  • Rose Otto (Rosa damascena/centifolia)
  • Sandalwood (Santalum album)
  • Sweet Orange (Citrus aurantium sinensis)
  • Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia)
  • Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata).

  • Like everything though, use in moderation. Remember, each individual can react differently to each oil depending on any existing medical conditions so seeking a physicians advise is recommended! I also recommend reading the original article for its additional precautions.

    Scented Saturdays #3 - Orange

This week we are going to talk a bit about Orange oil which happens to be an excellent oil for the beginner and mixes well with almost all the other oils!

The oil is actually cold pressed from the peel of the orange.

A pleasing and uplifting smell, orange oil can raise a persons spirits and energize them.

Orange oil is used in many furniture polish products because it is effective at revitalizing the wood.

For cellulite, mix 2-3 drops of orange oil into a carrier oil and massage into the area.

To inspire creativity mix 2-3 drops in a diffuser. I would go as far as adding an additional scent that personally pleases you. I make a mix of orange and patchouli oils.

For gingivitis and mouth ulcers mix 2-3 drops with water in a glass, swish around in your mouth and spit.

There are MANY uses for orange oil... it can also be used for:

Blemishes, bronchitis, chills, chronic fatigue, colds, constipation, coughs, depression and many more!

    Lawn Mowing Madness

Yesterday the hubby (as I call him) was standing in front of the window and looking outside. He was in awe at how fast the grass seemed to be growing. His words were:

"It's greened up a lot today,"

5 minutes later his words became:

"I can see the grass grow right in front of me... I'm watching the grass grow right now."

Naturally, I laughed at his dismay. I imagined the grass growing THAT fast... which had eventually evolved to a personified being, taunting him with its fast growing tonic... what was actually growing was lawn mowing dread.

Now we have a gigantic yard... we live in the country and our house lot itself is probably close to 2 acres. Not to mention the campground section we have outback so our friends can pitch tents when we have bonfires. So there is a lot of mowing to do. We have a ride-on mower and it still takes the better part of the day to mow and use the weed whacker. In the main growing season before the growth of the grass slows down we have to mow it about every 5 days or so.

So while the winter months bring much rest, the warm summer months bring much work. I don't think he was quite ready to spring upon it, we also have a truck to inspect and a few other things that all need to be done at the same time. So as if to allow him more time to rest... we awoke this morning to wind, hail and snow.

    Some days I hide...

    What a week!
The first day of spring I slept remarkably!
I slept so good that night that I must have assumed I did not need anymore sleep ever. For you see, on night number 2 of spring, I lay awake until 6 in the morning. I get up at seven usually to get the boys ready for school. So I fell back in bed for another couple hours after the bus came to steal my children... and then I went to a friends house. It had been far too long since I got to spend the day with her and we've known each other for half of my life. So that day I compensated for all the sleep I did not get with coffee. I had way too much! Since I have mostly been drinking tea for the last year or so my body really felt the effects of the coffee! I was so jittery when I got home! So needless to say I was awake again that night.

Oh I felt it the next day... I sent the kids off to school and I crawled back into the bed of doom... which is a relatively new bed that is super soft and comfy. Once you crawl inside, you never see the light of day again!! At least until you force yourself out of it...

The next thing I remember was the kids coming in the house after school... Oh my, is it really that late? Fortunately Mat wrangled the children and got them settled in at the table for homework time. I still felt off the entire day... moody. You see, routine is very important to me. I fell out of my routine and because of that I felt like I had the worst hangover.... when I went to school I used to stay up for 3 day periods straight without sleep... I know it isn't the healthiest thing... my life was way out of balance. Since I moved back home to the lovely country I have made it a point to live a balanced life style with a decent (not strict) routine and it serves me good. I find if I stay up after 3 am I end up having a horrible headache the next day! Not to mention my energy levels remain low for the next couple days.

So that is why you haven't really seen me... I've been here... kinda/sorta.... in a semi vegetative state. On the plus side, I have been catching up on some reading. I will have a couple book reviews up here within the next few days and a giveaway as well!

Look at that... another fine picture I found on a google image search... no one to credit for this one either :(

    Spring Equinox 2010

In Western tradition, it is common on New Years Eve to think about how we can improve ourselves. People often resolve to be more mindful of their behaviors. The problem is that very few of us stick to those resolutions. I feel it has something to do with the amount of time that we spend reflecting... It is difficult to make life changing decisions if you haven't totally convinced yourself. Sometimes we end up making resolutions just for the sake of tradition. Your heart wasn't completely into what you were saying, how on earth would you follow through? Grudgingly at best...

We start off winter with a loom of commercialism. At the end, of a very stressful season, we rush to reflect on what we could change in our own lives without really changing anything. We are so locked into a "time = money" scenario that we often can't AFFORD to stop for a moment and think up a new dream. Many people just can't stop and smell the roses anymore. They don't know how... and the odd few have completely forgotten what roses are. What we do remember is money... and time... which ultimately leads back to money... and time and money are things that we often don't have. You can't rush reflections.

How many years are we taking off of our life with this stressful "time=money" living. What if we stopped... and said forget time... Completely?!!??!

Let us pretend... no... BELIEVE... that the linear is illusive because it is something that our brains do to make sense of things. Let us pretend... no... BELIEVE... that life is really one 1 moment... a breath. What do you want to do with that breath... that moment. Be appreciative of the moment as you are living it. Believing is important! If you don't whole heartedly believe that change will happen than it likely won't. Having faith is the first step.

Eventually, with dedication and devotion... we are able to appreciate every moment, regardless of where we are and what "time" is required of us... so long as we continue to consciously CHOOSE to do so. The moment we start telling ourselves that we don't have "time" again we are limiting ourselves. We are placing walls between us and the roses.

The world isn't going to stop if I take a moment and create a better dream. The world isn't going to stop if I create a better me. Heck, I might stop feeling so stessed out and instead feel bliss. Life might even take on a completely different meaning for you! Maybe you might find yourself more relaxed. Perhaps you will feel more appreciation and gratitude for what you have instead of being to stressed out to enjoy life's simple pleasures.

    Use winter wisely:

    • Reflect on the last dream
    • What would you change, what have you accomplished... the more time you spend thinking about that the more will be revealed. More positives... more happiness... more roses.
    • What is your dream for this year?
    • Create it without flaw and don't look back.
    • Spring is the time to plant the seed and watch it grow :)
    • LIVE IT with all of your being!!!!!

    Happy spring everyone!
I hope you get to smell lots and lots of beautiful roses!

    Scented Saturdays #2 - Peppermint

This week for Scented Saturdays I thought that I would discuss Peppermint.

Peppermint is NOT recommended for Pregnant women or children under the age of 7 because it can cause irritation to the skin and mucus membranes. Having said that it is not toxic nor is it an skin irritant in diluted doses. Just like any other essential oil or herb, it is not recommended for prolonged use.

As an herbal tea (steeped peppermint leaf...) peppermint is beneficial for your digestive system as it stimulates the gall bladder and the secretion of bile.

Also a couple drops of oil in a diffuser can help aid digestion, relieve nausea and also aid with headaches relief as well.

    Home made Peppermint Mouth Wash
    • One drop of Rosemary oil
    • One drop of Sage oil
    • One drop of Peppermint oil
    • One Tsp of honey
For muscular pain and mental exhaustion a couple drops in a carrier oil and massage into skin, or place a 5-10 drops in the bath with some Epsom salts.

    Proactiv Review Part #1

On Monday I received a fantastic kit from the lovely folks at Proactiv to try out and review. I should mention that I requested the item only 1 week prior and I was told that it would take a couple days for it to get sent out because they were awaiting a new shipment. Instead it arrived at the speed of light!! The blink of an eye, really... I was quite impressed.

For those of you that don't know. Proactiv has recently been reformulated and the claim is that it is better than the original. Since I didn't have the privileged to try out the first one, I have absolutely no expectations considering I have no base for comparison other than the hype that has been generated by all of the Proactiv commercials I have seen over recent years.

Inside my box (...which my friend Megan IMMEDIATELY recognized as a box full of Proactiv products. Her enthusiasm made my day!) were 5 different products to try.

    The Renewing Cleanser
    The Revitalizing Toner
    The Repairing Treatment
    A Refining Mask
    Green Tea Moisturizer

All should be used twice a day with the exception of the Refining Mask, 2 - 3 times a week is enough. It can also be used for spot treatments on a breakout.

I started using it immediately (naturally!) and let me tell you I am pleased with my first impressions. I don't have the best skin, I've never really cared to be honest. Years ago I used to be embarrassed by my break outs, but I've taken a lesson from the hubby over the years in regards to pointing out the obvious and having a good laugh over it. My skin at its best usually has a sheen of oil over it. For the last 5 days, that oil has NOT been on my face and the breakout I had at the beginning of the week are drying out beautifully. My skin has had a really healthy glow and the scarring that I have had from previous breakouts are slowly fading. Did I mention the healthy glow? Even hubby commented on it one morning! No, I'm not pregnant... It's Proactiv!

I should mention, one thing that really pleases me about this product has tea tree oil in it which is great for the skin. That pleases me a lot. I can't get over how clean my face feels, I keep touching it.. probably isn't the greatest idea... but I'm just so amazed!

I'm going to post again about this in about a week or so, hopefully with some pictures so you can see the improvement for yourself!

If you are interesting in purchasing Proactiv you can do so here:

    Just Dance for the Wii

This game is SO fun! It is another one of the games that I received from the Ubisoft Bzz Agent Campaign.

Usually on Saturdays (but sometimes on Friday) we have another couple and their 2 children come over and spend the night. They have 2 boys, we have 2 boys. The boys absolutely love it and it gives them something to look forward too...

What they didn't know at the time was I had received my Bzz kit and I had a game for them to try out.

I removed the plastic packaging from the game and popped it in for them to play. They loved the game immediately. It kinda reminds me of Rockband or Guitar hero but for dancers. The kids had a ball! They all looked very amusing to us trying to mimic each of the dance moves as they seen them on tv. My oldest even went to change into "workout shorts" which I found even more amusing. They have a wide range of over 30 songs to play. What would make this game better? More songs to choose from. It would be great if you could download more songs, or unlock additional tracks over a wi-fi connection. Something perhaps to think about for the future.

So after they were done, me and the girls (because by the time the kids were ready for bed, 2 of my girls had also dropped by) and we all played as well! With our significant others periodically coming upstairs and making a smart comment about how funny we looked. The game is so much fun and you really do work up a sweat! What a great way to stay fit or dance those pounds away!

Discloser: As a Bzz Agent I received a copy of this game to try out for my honest opinion.

    Say NO to EGO!

As much as I dearly love my children, some days the childlike banter sounds like thousands of little squirrels talking amongst themselves simultaneously, mere inches away from me. On these days they follow me, no matter where I move or where I go. Saying mom, mom, mom, mom... MOM.

    Mom left.

    Where did she go?

I still SEE her, but her eyes look so vacant.

That is because mom has been uttering calm peaceful mantras all day. In her minds eye she has nestled with a bottomless cup of tea on a beach and it is a beautiful day.

In this wondrous illusion she is pondering how to grow:

    More loving
    More patient
    More accepting
    More forgiving
    More kind

I AM all of these things, but some days I allow my ego to control:

    How loving
    How patient
    How accepting
    How forgiving
    How kind

    I can be.
I do not want my ego to make my choices.
I do not want my ego to determine:

    How loving
    How patient
    How accepting
    How forgiving
    How kind

    I can be.
You see, as it looks to me... ego does nothing but weigh me down.
How can I fly free or teach my children to soar if I tie anvils to our feet?
Ego is part of me that wants... no DEMANDS recognition. Then it can grow bigger and become more easily stung....

But ego it is not I...
    deep down...
    I am...

    a limitless supply of LOVE...

...but the ego makes me feel anger, jealousy, resentment, bitterness...
the ego can make me cower like a lion licking my wounded paw.

sometimes it makes me feel completely irrational, because my ego needs attention. The ego fills my mind with falsities, allowing me to fear how miserable I will be if my ego doesn't get fed. The ego is like... a monster in my belly that is constantly hungry. If you keep on feeding it food it will grow until it has left no room for YOU.

I want to feel joy, peace, bliss, happiness... not controlled.

    I want to be:

    Loving
    Patient
    Accepting
    Forgiving
    Kind

    I want to be:

    LIMITLESS

I wish I knew who made that picture up top... they deserve credit!

What is green living to you?

Green living to me is hanging out with my pal Kermit....

Okay well maybe it isn't green living but when I was a child aside from shows like the Smoggies or Captain Planet that was the extent of my knowledge of what it was to live green.

Now it is different, we have watched the last couple generations attempt to make their lives easier with products made for our convenience that in the end made OUR lives more complicated because we now we have to figure out how to put more nutrients into bodies that have been eating dead nutrients for two generations. Now we have to figure out how to reduce the amount of waste that two generations did an exceptionally good job at creating. Not to mention the long term effects from the chemicals that in our own vanity we dumped all over the earth. Aerosol cans would be the perfect example of that but it is not the only one. All of these things have had a negative impact on our bodies and the environment that we live in.

I find it hard to believe that some people still do not feel as though it is there responsibility. They didn't make the mess... maybe not but as I tell my kids, "You still live here and we are a team, a team is only as strong as it's weakest member and if you won't help, then we aren't as strong as we should be." We are accountable for our own actions and if someone refuses to help then they are responsible for the strength of the team. Strength can impact performance.

What got me on this rant? We'll it isn't really a rant but thank you!

    :-)

I'm a member of the Majesta Moms campaign. Throughout the campaign, we are asked weekly questions. This weeks question was about what we are doing in our own lives to live green. Of course being me I had a decently long list, but near the end of my post I really starting thinking a lot about teaching and reproving. We have to teach our children, reprove our own behaviors and be compassionate. Because if we don't have a willing attitude, if we chose to resist this movement. Then we are not only doing ourselves an injustice... but we are dragging our whole team down and creating resistance that is just holding everyone else back, because now on top of changing our own habits we have to deal with the petty drama of the resistance!

This is what I wrote at the end of my post:

"It's a lifestyle change really... teaching the children to be kind and not to waste what was given to us. Helping them learn how blessed we are to be here in the first place and teaching them how to appreciate and be kind to each other the same way we need to be kind to the earth. I feel at times that the green living approach all starts with love as a foundation, because if you don't love and appreciate what you have, how can you be compassionate towards. Teach the children compassion and they will heal the earth!"

What do you do in your own lives to live green? What does green living mean to you?

    Scented Saturdays - Lavender

This is a new feature I wanted to introduce!
For as many Saturdays as I remember... :)

I would like to talk about essential oils/herbs and practical applications for that herb/oil. My friends joke kindly about me being an alchemist... there are just so many things that one can do at home to promote their own personal well being!

Remember, according to mental health we have no true definition of mental wellness, only the illnesses and we pretty much have an entire encyclopedia series on all the illnesses we can have. So, if the stressed out day to day "normal life" is the middle balance.... couldn't it be argued that we should have an entire encyclopedia series that speaks of mental wellbeing?

So... stress is normal? I strongly feel stress effects my wellbeing and aromatherapy can aid in stress management. So can yoga and meditation/prayer.... and faith heals... seems like we're trying to tell ourselves something.

This week I thought I would talk about one of the power herbs which would be Lavender.

Lavender has a lightly floral scent, mixes well with most other oils and is very versatile.

Lavender has a long list of therapeutic uses. Remember like any essential oil, they are very concentrated amounts of the herb and should be used with caution. Some oils cannot be applied neat (directly to skin). Lavender can be applied to the skin as it doesn't irritate.

Two very effective ways to take advantage of the benefits any oil has to offer is by mixing it directly in a carrier oil for massage purposes, or placing a few drops of the Essential oil in the bath tub, maybe with some Epsom salts for added benefit.

I should mention that if you don't enjoy the scent, its properties will not be as beneficial for you as they would be for someone who loves the smell. Smelling things that we do not enjoy just adds stress to an already stressed out body and mind. It is counter-productive.

Here we go! Now its time for various random uses for lavender!

    • As a tonic for hair growth, mix 2-3 drops into a container of leave-in unscented conditioner and massage into scalp.
    • Rub a couple drops of oil into temples to aid in headache alleviation. There is also a pressure point in the hand that will take care of that. Also, a lavender scented hot or cold compress will help.
    • To reduce the intensity of flu symptoms place a few drops of Lavender in a diffuser or with steam inhalation. I would recommend both lavender and eucalyptus, they would be a cold power house... maybe a little camphor and some orange oil to bring around the mood a bit... being sick can be depressing. Sometimes it is necessary to combat multiple symptoms.
    • For anxiety or depression, place 8-10 drops directly into the tub. Close the shower curtain if you have one... keep the smell inside with you :-)

There are many uses for lavender and these are just a few! I hope you join me again next time on Scented SATURDAAAAAYS.

    Pink? Bah, not this time

I kept it red, to be honest red makes me feel good. I might still change it yet but for the most part this is going to represent a new feel for my blog. It seems so much neater and clean! What is everyone thinking?

I still have to change the button soon but it isn't urgent. I wanted to get the bulk of the work over last night so I wasn't continually annoying everyone with all the changes.

I kept the core of the original "Music and Mommies" graphic the primary background focus in this one, just so it had some familiar branding.

So enough website talk... I've been thinking about gardening. Slowly drafting in my mind how I want my garden to look, the purpose I want it to serve... how big it is. Creating this garden in my mind. I can't wait until it becomes my reality.

    Blogging Tomfoolery

It is that time of year... the birds are beginning to chirp and I have a random IMPULSIVE urge to go with something fresh for my blog. Now since I do this sort of stuff myself it won't be THAT fresh but it will be something. As you can see I've messed with the header a bit.. but I was thinking a little pinker... then I started browsing through new templates... so all I can say is the following.

    I'm sorry.

    Please don't shoot me.

    Please come back and visit.

    The worst is not over.

Hopefully I won't push the big red button.

Being anti-curious is not my strong point.

I heart all of you loverly readers!

I will have some product reviews up real soon! Just received my proactive package! Those kind folks work faster than the speed of light!

I just wanted to give everyone the heads up that Read It Forward has 3 new books available to win. The titles include "The California Roll", "Fragile Beasts" and "I am Nujood, Age 10 and Divorced"

    Happy Reading :-)

    Happy Follow Friday!

    Friday Follow

Welcome to the Friday Follow celebration hosted by One 2 Try, Hearts Make Families and Midday Escapades! We invite you to join us every Friday to get more blog followers and to follow other interesting blogs. It is all about sharing and having fun.

Here's how YOU can join the celebration:

--Link up your blog name and URL using the MckLinky below. Only need to add on one blog to be seen on all the blog hops.

--Follow the Friday Follow hostesses listed in the first 3 slots.

--Follow as many blogs as you'd like.

--Take a moment to comment on the blogs telling them you're from Friday Follow.

--Follow back when you get a new follower through Friday Follow.

The Blog Hop is the same at each of our three hosts blogs so you do not have to add your blog at each site. Just one - but you can follow each blog. Follow a few or follow them all.

The list is new each week. The links do not carry over. Please link up each week for new participants to find your blogs. The list is only open to add your blog links on Fridays. It will be visible all week to visit the blogs listed.

As hostesses, we realize the time required to participate in Friday Follow. Due to the overwhelming number of entries each week, we understand everyone may not be able to follow every blog including ourselves. To keep it fun, follow what you can at your own pace. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your continued participation!"

    Alice in Wonderland (1903)

Thanks to Kimberly at She Scribes for pointing out this amazing find! A Silent film copy of Alice in Wonderland that was made over 100 years ago.

The original Alice in Wonderland was not the Disney version at all... No it was filmed in 1903, just 37 years after Lewis Carroll wrote his novel and 8 years after the birth of cinema. This adaptation of the original story was directed by Cecil Hepworth and Percy Snow and based on the original illustrations by Sir John Tenniel.

The original film had a running time of 12 minutes and was the longest film produced in England at the time. Unfortunately only 8 minutes of the film have survived. The film was severely damaged and has recently been restored.
