So around 4 in the morning my 10 year old son woke up to crashes and bangs but rather than get up and investigate he decided it would be better if he went back to sleep... sounds like mama lol
This morning while trying to tune the radio frequency (that I must have turned off CJLS in my grogginess one morning with the intention of turning down the volume) to listen to school cancellations I here all this commotion. The cat... the cat... did what??? What did the cat do now! I mean besides tearing up our weather stripping, destroying our camera and ripping up the fabric on the underneath of the box spring I have been losing my patience with her and actually considering getting her declawed, even though I believe that cats should get to keep their claws because I feel they are defenseless without them. She must have understood. At 4 in the morning, our cat caught... not a mouse... no that would have been too easy for lady phoenix... my cat caught a baby weasel and left it for us in the bathroom... as a gift/apology.
I'm still trying to work out how a baby weasel got in the house... it was white which seemed odd but it is winter after all... I wish my camera wasn't broken. I would have taken a picture.
I was browsing through some of my favorite blogs today and found a post on Frugal Plus about Read it forward! Each month they list 3 books that you can request (for as long as they are available)... read and then pass on your to someone else! This months reads are "Walking to Gatlinburg", "Secrets of Eden" and "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks". I liked this so much that I had to re-blog it!
After writing the title for this post I had that guilty little feeling that I would get as a child who just fibbed about why my homework isn't done. I hope blogging never becomes homework to me. I really do enjoy writing and it is a good way to get things out.
So I keep my camera on top of my computer desk normally. Last Friday was no different. I was in the kitchen making lunch for the children when I hear something fall. Face down on the living room floor was my camera. The lens... dented... sigh
I tried to power up, but since the lens won't move it shuts down again.
For all those who live local to me in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia... please come out to the Y'arc tonight on Parade Street and check out the showcase! I'm playing 4 songs... maybe even a cover. Not entirely sure yet. I have a habit of playing whatever I feel comfortable with at the last minute. I never said it was a good habit, just one that I am working on.
Currently right now I'm participating in 2 Bzz Campaigns. The Danano Yogurt campaign which I will be posting a review for over the next week or so and I just signed up for the Ubisoft campaign which I'm really excited for because I will get to review Your Shape for the Wii and Just Dance for the Wii!
Back to Danano for a minute... they sent me some pin numbers for there contest. You can win Yogurt for a year but you need a pin to enter! One entry per person/pin! So leave me a comment if you want a pin... I have 8 of them to give away!
I won a book recently on The Book Tree called "Who owns the world" I'm pretty excited to read it. They have a review of the book on Amazon if you are interested in checking it out!
Subway and The Biggest Loser are offering a free full length download of a workout mix! All you need to do is enter your email address and the download starts right away!
The album includes a wide range of mainstream music perfect for cleaning up the homestead or shaking off the pounds :-)
Around Christmas time I stopped into the health food store to do a little shopping and stumbled upon this great aromatherapy book called Aromatherapy for Everyone. It is a very descriptive and well laid out book with some basic essential oils and practical applications for them. It also lists off the history of the essential oils as well.
A handy little feature that the book contains is a glossary of common symptoms and the essential oils that can help relieve these symptoms. I was greatly impressed with this feature. So feeling stressed? Well Basil, Bergamot and Cedarwood are a couple of the many oils that can help you relax. One of my favorite ways to apply Essential oils is to put a few drops in the tub, aside from putting some in a carrier oil to use in a massage, bathing is one of the most effective ways to receive aromatherapy treatments.
I personally LOVE this book and it is one of the handiest tools that I have had around the house. I recommend this book to anyone who feels they need a guide to aromatherapy application around their home.
I won a $10 coupon for Sampler Village and I was really excited to use it! Why was I so excited? Well for a small fee Sampler Village will send you a box full of samples from various etsy shops and the amazing artisans who run them. I put in my order a couple days before Christmas and I was like a kid in a Candy Store waiting for it to come it. It came into the post office a couple days ago but since my husband is the only driver I had to contain myself another couple days until we needed to go to town. No sense in wasting gas!
So last night, the parcel made it into my hands! I opened up the box, and inside was another... BOX. Only I was expecting this as I ordered the mini Winter Sampler Box which comes with $20 samples. Did I mention how much I love homemade things? The box was a pretty blue with a nice bow and a pretty glittering snowman attached. Now that is just lovely, I like that extra special touch. It makes you feel as if you are a valued customer. How many stores do you have the privilege of shopping in that treat you like that?
Look at how pretty this is!
Here are a few of the MANY wonderful treasures I found within the box.
What a suiting name for a shoppe, it is indeed a delightful scent. A very romantic and unisex smell, I do not recommend this scent if you have a sensitive nose though as it is a little strong. I personally adore it! You can find Delightful Scents here.
As soon as this adorable finger puppet creation came out of the box my 7 year old son Tyler was hovering around me like a puppy waiting for food droppings. Success. Lori has lots of crafty little things that will win over any child's heart and your own. You can find her at KiD-N Around Creations.
You know, I really like spicy and woodsy scents most of all... but something about the smell of this made me want to go take a hot bubble bath, drink margarita's and sun tan all at once. The lime smells invigorating. I would encourage you all to check out Janine's Soap Suds.
Yum. Yum. Yum. Bathtalk has won my heart with this Candy Cane Cupcake Mini Bath Bomb! I can feel my stresses melting away already and I haven't even hopped in the tub yet. It smells heavenly!
Everything that Traci from Sampler Village sent was amazing and dealing with her has been an absolute pleasure! She even included a delicious little Kandy Kitchen Tart Sample courtesy of Sampler Village. I wish I could mention everything that was received because truthfully all of these people deserve the mention for the outstanding work that they do! A lot of the stores also included discounts on my next purchase. So what are you waiting for? Go to Sampler Village and meet the residents :-)
A redemptive story from multi-platinum recording artist Sara Evans.
Jade Fitzgerald left the pain of her past in the dust when she headed out for college a decade ago. Now she's thriving in her career and glowing in the light of Max Benson's love.
But then Jade's hippie mother, Beryl Hill, arrives in Whisper Hollow, Tennessee, for Jade's wedding along with Willow, her wild younger sister. Their arrival forces Jade to throw open the dark closets of her past--the insecurity of living with a restless, wandering mother, the silence of her absent father, and the heart-ripping pain of first-love's rejection.
Turns out Beryl has a secret of her own. She needs reconciliation with her oldest daughter before illness takes her life. In the final days leading to the wedding, Jade meets the One who shows her that the past has no hold on her future. With a little grace, they'll meet in the middle, maybe even before that sweet by and by.
"The Sweet By and By" is a wholesome Christian story about Jade, a vintage shop owner living in a small town. Jade is getting married and this life changing event has brought up elements from past relationships that Jade has long buried. (Primarily the relationship with her parents but also various other meaningful relationships.) It is a very touching and heartfelt story and accurately displays how vulnerable we can all be at times. This story is about looking within and forgiveness. It is a very easy and quick read and just happened to pull on my heart strings and bring me to tears a few times. I found while reading this story I often reflected on aspects and the relationships in my own life and how important forgiveness is in each of our lives. The book has a sweet southern feel to it and does very much play out like a country song. The Sweet by and by is now available in stores.
